Internships
At AFM, our people are our most valuable resource, and that includes our interns! We care about our employees, and we also understand the importance of teaching the future generation of foresters.
What sets our internships apart? You will be paired with a forester throughout the summer and work on various projects. For example: cruising timber, site prep, inventory, learning how to manage multiple logging crews and so much more!
Are you ready to get your boots dirty?! We also provide networking opportunities where you are meeting foresters who have been working in the field for years. Throughout the summer you will receive continuous and on-going feedback. What we can offer- if you are someone who is looking to build work experience, get hands on training, learn from professionals, gain confidence and learn more about consulting forestry, then this internship is for you!

Internships
You will be paired with a forester and assist them with various land management assignments. You will gain valuable experience and learn about AFM’s systems and technology. Our paid interns earn 40 hours of experience each week! Interns enjoy flexible start and end dates depending on their college or university schedules. We do not provide assistance with housing. Typical internships are over the summer; however, we will consider having an internship during the fall or spring semester.
Candidates must be pursuing a Forestry or Natural Resources degree and desire to learn about a consulting forestry career.
Candidates will work on various tasks to meet client objectives. Some examples of tasks are timber cruising, inventory, marking property lines, marking timber, assisting a timber sale, assisting with logging road maintenance or new construction, site prep, and so much more.
If there is a particular activity you want to observe or get hands-on training, let your manager know and we will do our best to make it happen.

Interviewing
Please wear business professional attire for any virtual or in-person interview. The talent acquisition specialist will communicate if the dress code will be different.
Interviews can last from 30-60 minutes. The talent acquisition and retention specialist will communicate prior to scheduling the interview.
If you like to take notes, please bring a notebook. You can also bring a list of questions tailored to the job and office culture or explore AFM’s services in more depth.
For a virtual interview, please log on 10-15 minutes early to ensure all links work correctly. If not, please contact the talent acquisition and retention specialist for assistance prior to the interview.
For an in-person interview, please give yourself 10-15 minutes extra and map out directions to ensure you do not get lost or encounter unexpected traffic.
We will be asking specific questions based on position. However, we are looking for someone who has a willingness to work hard, grow, and excel in their career.
