Rodney Chandler, District Manager in Chester, SC, has over 35 years of experience in forest management with both NIPF and TIMO clients.  Rodney holds an Associate of Science in Forest Technology from Glenville State University and a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management from West Virginia University.  Rodney is a Registered Forester and Licensed Real Estate Salesman in South Carolina and is a Prescribed Fire Manager, Top Logger Certified, and Commercial Pesticide Applicator.  He has worked for AFM in Chester for nearly 19 years and has been the Chester District Manager for about three years.  The Chester District is in Chester, SC, and manages properties in about seven counties in central South Carolina.

Why did you pursue a career in forestry?

I decided to become a forester because, in my teen years, I spent a good amount of time outdoors hiking, camping, and hunting.  I thought that a forestry career would allow me to spend most of my time alone outdoors.  Little did I know at the time that a career in forestry is largely about relationships with landowners, clients, contractors, loggers, and co-workers.  The job is as much about forestry as it is about relationships.

What do you like the most about your role with AFM?

I enjoy my job because each day presents its own opportunities and challenges, which keeps the job interesting.
